The 4 Best Hairstyles for Busy Moms

We have here a wonderful guest post by the fabulous Tammy (A Mom in Red High Heels). Her blog is the definite go-to for moms who want to stay chic and stylish. Aside from dishing out style tips, Tammy also helps moms with their makeover queries. Check out her blog if you feel that you need a new hairstyle.

When a woman becomes a mom, she either a) chops off her hair or b) throws it up in a ponytail every day. While some women can certainly rock a chic short style or pull off a fabulous sleek ponytail, these looks are not for all women. There are ways of styling your hair that can offer you variety, compliment your busy life as a mom and most importantly, keep you from looking like a frumpy mom! Four celebrity moms give us inspiration with their own hairstyles:

1. Gwyneth Paltrow’s Long Bob
This classic style is a shoulder length graduated bob. It is a low maintenance cut that will keep you looking fresh and youthful. It’s even long enough to pull back into an occasional ponytail!

2. Victoria Beckham’s Tousled Bob
What could be better than a style that is supposed to look messy? Of course, this look takes intentional styling but the imperfect sassiness is sexy and fun. Keeping the length of the hair below the chin, adding textured waves and side-swept bangs will make you the hottest mom at playgroup!

3. Reese Witherspoon’s Layered Locks
If you are a mom who is holding on to your length, add some face framing layers and side-swept bangs a la Reese Witherspoon. The layers will give you a fresh new shape and give you some pieces to pull out when you do wear your hair back.

4. Nicole Richie’s Keratin Treated Style
Nicole Richie knows the secret to keeping her hair frizz-free. It’s called Brazilian Blowout™, a keratin hair treatment that helps improve the condition of your hair while creating smooth, frizz-free hair that is incredibly shiny and soft. The Brazilian Blowout™ helps you cut down on styling time, especially drying time! This keratin treatment is truly the key to great hair every day!

Don’t get into a rut, like many moms do, by pulling your hair back every day! Try a new style that is modern, sexy and low-maintenance!

Steps to a Bikini Ready Body

Well, Winter is over, and the Summer is around the corner. And while I love the hot weather, gorgeous clothes and new looks, I must admit that I dread putting on my bikini. I just never feel ready, and I never feel entirely comfortable…this year, I decided to quiz some experts on ways I could feel happier, and here are my tips for getting a bikini ready body…

1. Start with the skin
Your skin needs to feel ready for Summer, so give it a helping hand by exfoliating regularly. This will get rid of Winters rough skin and promote the growth and nourishment of some softer, sexy Summer skin. I’ve been using this Philosophy wash which smells divine and leaves my skin in great condition!

2. Keep it hydrated
Skin can dry out fast, especially when its being exposed to the Sun. To counter this, use an oil based cream once a day, which will lock in moisture. I’ve recently been recommended these Pagnea Organic oils, which as well as hydrating the skin also revive tired muscles and smell divine! It comes in a few different scents, too, and I’m already a huge fan.

3. Feet First
Have you ever noticed that some people seem to completely ignore their feet? Well if you are going to be showing off your body, your feet need to look their best too. The best way to look after them? Invest in some foot soak, and use it once a day. Follow this by applying a cream similar to this divine smelling Shea Butter, and use spa socks to keep it in. After a few days, you’ll have the prettiest feet in town!

4. Acne
Theres nothing worse then putting on your bikini only to discover that you’ve got spots, so its time to start looking after those trouble areas! I’ve recently discovered this gorgeous Sephora set, which smells like vanilla cake and contains everything I need to keep my skin looking radiant and spot free. If you really suffer, try using a bath product for acne sufferers, or see your doctor for a prescribed medicine.

5. Keep Hair At Bay
No one looks good covered in hair, but if you leave it to late, you’ll be looking like a lobster before you even hit the beach. Get your body into the habit of a hot shower, exfoliate, wax and shave. If you can handle the pain of waxing, it’s really worth the extra time, as it keeps hair at bay for much longer. I’ve got this great mini wax kit, which keeps me looking great when I’m on holiday!

6. Glow On!
Get a head start on your tan by beginning to use a light coloured self tan. Avoid tanning beds as these will damage skin, and apply self tan once a week or as necessary to build up an even and gradual colour. Just make sure you don’t go too dark, or you won’t notice your natural tan!

7. Accentuate your tan
Use a body bronzer to highlight your favourite parts of your body. From decorating your collar bone to flattening your stomach, in the right places this can really make a difference to how you look (and how confident you feel!)

8. Go Waterproof
This sounds easy, but is really easy to forget. Invest in some high quality waterproof make up, and practice applying it. Knowing that you look good will make a real difference to how confident you feel! I’ve bought this great Stila set, which has everything I’ll need to feel great, and comes in a great container too. It’s perfect for holidays!

I’ve been testing these tricks for a few weeks, and they are really making a difference! From just swimming to preparing for the beach, I feel a lot more ready to bare all, and I’m even thinking of investing in a few more bikinis…Have you got a tip on getting my body bikini ready? Please let me know!

One of the eyes makeup trends for 2011 is a goddess style. For winter 2011, there are no colours, the key is to use black eye-liner, black coloured mascara, and matte copper or black eye-shadows, to emphasize the contour of your eyes.

Beauty Basics Tips

by: R. L. Fielding

Despite the media coverage of makeover reality shows, the majority of Americans are not looking for extreme transformations. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, most of us want to look better, naturally, with 68-percent preferring a subtle change. And experts agree that looking your best could be accomplished at home for considerably less.

Dr. Linda Franks, a leader in the specialized skin care frontier, says "To get that timeless, healthy look you need to start with an appropriate skincare regime. Taking good care of your skin can stave off fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and even dry skin."

Doctors say whatever your skin type, the key is to cleanse it gently.
oAvoid hot water and use lukewarm instead, to prevent over-drying.
oAnd throw in the towel - traditional washcloths are too abrasive for the face, so use your hands and fingers.

Sixty-eight-percent of women claim to have sensitive skin which means dry, tight, chapped or easily irritated skin.
oMoisturize regularly.
oAvoid harsh cleansers with ingredients such as fragrances, dyes and preservatives because sensitive skin is easily damaged and takes longer to recover.

If your skin is dry and easily irritated, don't wash more than once a day. You may risk stripping the skin of its natural oils.
oLook for non-irritating cleansing washes that are soap-free.
oUse light, oil-free, water-based moisturizers to help maintain the skin's natural barrier.
oMake sure to choose a facial moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15, which protects against both UVB and UVA rays.

Skin sensitivity may also result from the third most common, non-surgical skincare procedure known as Microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a quick and easy, non-invasive procedure that helps to reveal healthier-looking skin by sweeping away dead skin cells.
oDr. Franks reveals that, following the treatment, the best way to avoid irritation is by opting for an ultra-gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
oA new clinical study shows that PURPOSE gentle cleansing wash and dual treatment moisture lotion with spf 15 are compatible with this procedure.

How else can you obtain optimal skin health? Dr. Franks says, "Exercise opens up blood vessels to make skin look healthy and youthful. It's so important for healthy skin."
oRegular cardiovascular exercise increases blood flow to the skin which assists in collagen production.
oMaintaining muscle mass through exercise can also help anchor and support skin, keeping it taut.
oAnd drink up! At least eight, eight-ounce glasses of water a day are crucial for optimal skin hydration.

So before you sign on for an extreme and expensive makeover, just think back on some simple, beauty basics! You just might like what you see!

Summer Hair Tips

Summer heat may wreak havoc on your hair, but it doesn’t have to! My hair responds to heat and humidity in the usual way: frizzy, limp, and lifeless. What do I do to give my hair a boost? Well, I may never have model perfect, movie star locks, but I can have hair that hold ups to the sun and humidity! Keep reading to find my secrets.

1. Curls That Won’t Frizz
This is the biggest problem I face. My hair is naturally curly, so when it meets the humidity of summer, it doesn’t have the strength to fight alone. So I give it a little armor! Mix a dab of hair cream with a dab of hair shine in the palm of your hand. The silicone in the shine treatment blocks humidity, while the creams helps keep my curl defined and shaped. No more frizzies!

2. Lifeless Locks
Straight hair may fall prey to humidity by drooping. If your hair is straight, or if you straighten your hair with a straighter, here’s a little secret I know: Apply mousse to clean hair right at the scalp while it is still damp. Use your blow dryer and a round brush to lift your roots while you dry your hair. Instant hair lift!

3. Use the Right Shampoo
High heat produces perspiration, even on your scalp. Excess oil can make your hair limp. The remedy is to use clarifying shampoo to remove the oils and build up of hair products. If this shampoo dries your hair out too much, use it once a week instead of every day. You will reap the same benefits!

4. Dry Shampoo
Technology has improved so much, and so has beauty products. My mom used to use baby powder for quick “shampoos.” Now, there are products you can buy that will do the same thing, without the white residue left behind from the powder. You can buy spray bottles for your purse, and can use them anytime, anywhere you need a fast “shampoo.”

5. Blow Dry Tip #1
For long, thick hair, blow dry your hair, after using a smoothing cream, on medium heat, high speed, to remove excessive water. After hair is partially dry, use a large, round brush and blow-dry from the roots out to the tips. This will smooth hair and add fullness at the same time.

6. Blow Dry Tip #2
For short hair, add your styling cream, then blow-dry hair on medium heat. Instead of a round brush, use your fingers to grab and twist your hair. After your roots are dry, then you can use a round, ceramic brush to finish drying the tips of your hair.

7. Blow Dry Tip #3
If your hair is curly, twist small strands of hair around your finger, after applying curl enhancer. Then, use a diffuser to dry your hair. Scrunch and squeeze your hair while you blow dry. This will encourage your curls to remain curls and not “blow away” while you blow away the moisture!

Did you enjoy reading any of these summer hair tips? If so, leave me a comment! Or maybe you have your own tip you would like to add.

Beauty Comes From Within

by: David Stanton

Since real beauty comes from within, it's important that your beauty products bring out your best natural qualities. Natural beauty product reviews can help you choose which products are best suited to your own individual needs.

One popular type of natural beauty product is stretch mark removal cream. Since stretch marks are pretty common--their causes range from pregnancy to body building--a lot of people can be helped by a natural, effective treatment for them. While reading natural beauty product reviews, I noticed that the best stretch mark remedies contain high amounts of Emu Oil, Aloe Vera Gel, Collagen, Elastin and Vitamin E. When these key ingredients are combined in a highly concentrated cream, they can not only help reduce stretch marks you already have, but actually help prevent new ones from forming!

One of the most helpful things about natural beauty product reviews is that they tell you about the ingredients in the best beauty products out there. Whenever you're looking for skin treatments--whether it's cellulite cream, spider vein therapy, sunless tanning or stretch mark removal--you want to make sure that the ingredients are safe and actually make your skin look better, not worse. What's the point of diminishing stretch marks if the skin around them becomes red and irritated? Natural beauty products tend to be safer, because they don't include a lot of harsh chemicals in their ingredients.

If you're fair skinned like I am, you know how hard it can be to enjoy the great outdoors. There's nothing unusual about stretch marks or cellulite or spider veins. They are the natural effects of having bodies that grow and change. Using natural, high quality products to safely improve your skin's appearance can help you feel less self-conscious at the beach or in the bedroom.

Then your natural, individual beauty can shine through!

Tattoos are painful and permanent and still, everyone seems to want one. I myself have two and plan to get at least three more. But, since I went and got one in a very painful place with absolutely no warning, I thought I would look up the most painful places to get a tattoo so I could avoid making the same mistake twice.

1. Spine
Ouch and more ouch! Your spine is made up of 26 bones, 24 of them go from your neck to the base of your bum and each tattoo that you get along them will hurt. The spine is the most painful place to get a tattoo. I say just move a little to the left or right and just avoid all of the pain.

2. Hip
This is where I got my second tattoo and that’s probably the reason that I’ve waited so long to get this next one. The closer you are to touching any bone in your hip, the more pain you’re going to be in. But if you think the end result is worth it then go for it!

3. Ankle
Avoid your ankle bone at all costs! Everyone that I speak to that has a tattoo on their ankle told me to avoid that bone no matter what. Go around it, go on top of it or below it but never, ever get tattooed right on the bone of your ankle.

4. Foot
Although this isn’t the most fun place to get a tattoo as long as you avoid toes and the bones on top of your feet you’ll be alright. Just make sure to go on the side of your foot near your heel or by your arch.

5. Elbow
Your elbow is basically skin and bone. There isn’t really any cushion to keep that vibrating feeling of the needle away from your bone and so, I’m going to have to say unless you REALLY want your elbows tattooed, go for another spot.

6. Knee
The knees, just like the elbows are all skin and bone with no cushion. If you want a leg tattoo that isn’t going to hurt that badly go for the thigh where you have a little bit more fat and tissue and your bone is a little further from the surface.

7. Clavicle
The most easily broken bone in the body is also one of the most painful places to get a tattoo. The closer you get to the two bones on either side of your neck, the more pain you’re likely to be in.

Alright ladies, this is the list of the most painful places to get a tattoo. Just remember that the closer you get to bone with no fat, the more pain you’ll be in. So go for a nice forearm or thigh! And remember a tattoo is pretty permanent unless you want to spend a fortune getting it removed so be sure of what you want and where you want it! Any comments or questions on tattoo pain or tattoo stories to share? Let me know down below!

Ways to Maximize Your Beauty Sleep

There’s so much to do these days that getting enough sleep can be impossible sometimes, but we all know that getting our full amount is vital for having gorgeous skin and hair! If you find life getting in the way of your 8 hours a night, here are my top six ways to maximize your beauty sleep.

1. Fighting Damage
While you are asleep, your skin heals itself from all the damage it’s suffered during the day. Your body releases melatonin as you get into a deep slumber, and this helps your skin to regenerate and fix any damage. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, this might not be happening, and your skin will really suffer as a result. If you want gorgeous, radiant skin try searching for a face cream containing melatonin! I use Origins Night Health Bedtime Cream, which has worked miracles for my skin!

2. Ponytail No No
Fancy pulling your hair into a tight pony tail and taking a nap? Don’t do it! As your move in the night, your hair will be tugged at and damaged, and can even get ripped out. Instead, try a loose pony tail. Your hair will thank you for it, and look much healthier!

3. Take Away
Thinking of ordering a take away an hour before bed? The salt content really isn’t good for eye bags and puffiness, as salt causes your body to retain water. If you can’t resist that food, though, use an eye roller such as Garniers for fixing the damage and making your eyes look great!

4. Anti Ageing
Recent studies have shown that people who suffer from a lack of sleep age much faster then those who don’t. And they think that for best results, you should be in the ‘deep sleep’ stage by 2.30am, ready to wake up at 8am. Not going to manage it? Instead make sure you use some high quality anti ageing products!

5. Pillows
How many pillows do you sleep with? I have about five, but studies suggest that two flat pillows are perfect. The height is just right to help your skin detox and reduce puffiness during the night.

6. Rosy Finish
During the night, your body temperature naturally rises, because blood flow to the skin is increased. This gives you a nice rosy glow when you wake up, as the sleep takes care of your skin when you wake up. If you haven’t quite reached that stage when you have to wake up, try using a radiance peel to make you look divine!

While you can’t entirely replace sleep, with these tips, you can maximize the beauty sleep you do get, and make sure you are looking and feeling your absolute best! After all, who knows whose looking? Have you got a tip for maximizing beauty sleep, or an amazing product to share? Please let me know!

Skin is the manifestation of health and vitality, emotional, mental and physical well-being. Beauty doesn't have to be Expensive

by: Melanie Breeze

Where do you buy your beauty supplies? If you buy them from a department store- you are paying way too much! I was a department store buyer for many years. I was hooked on a particular brand, and I thought that the products were only available at the department store. I was wrong. With a little bit of time and research, I was able to shave off 50% of my beauty supply bill. Imagine what you could do with the extra money. The process is actually really simple. All you have to do is find the right websites.

Many of us are hooked on a particular brand of beauty supplies. We have used them for years, and love the way that they make us look and feel. The price tag however isn't very pretty. Try doing a search online for your favorite beauty products. You may find that auction sites such as EBay.com have really good deals. Make sure to find out about shipping and return policies. I am a sucker for a free shipping deal, so try to find them whenever possible. You may also be able to purchase the product directly from the manufacturer's website. Look for online promotions that will give you discounts on the items you buy most. Coupon sites can give you even better discounts, so shop around.

If you are feeling adventurous and want to try a new cheaper brand, have no fear. Most websites will include a list of ingredients for all of their products. You can then compare this list with products that you have tried before. Look for products that have natural ingredients. If you can't produce anything on the label, chances are its not a good deal. There are many companies that focus on creating cheap designer knock-offs, so you may get a fragrance or cologne for much less than the name brand.

Buying beauty supplies online can be a lot of fun. You will be amazed at the level of savings, and pleased with the final product. Try getting together with friends and family members to compare beauty regimens. You may find a new product or item that you cannot live without. Always remember- beauty doesn't have to be expensive!

Acrylic Nail Drill

An acrylic nail drill is an electric device that is used to shape fingernails and toenails. These types of drills are universally used in spas and beauty parlors. These drills are rarely acquired for personal use in homes. For safety purposes trained nail technicians should only operate these sorts of drills. The main purpose of a nail drill is to file down the fingernail or toenail to an effective or aesthetically pleasing length and width. They are used with traditional manual files are not adequate.

A nail drill can be a handy tool whether it is acrylic, glass or silk wrap artificial nail. When acrylic nails are being applied, the nail drill is also used to shape the material once it has dried on top of the natural nail. Most of the nail drills look like thick pens with an eraser where the nib should be. They are designed to fit easily in the hand.

It includes five travel sized, super-chic (love the metallic silver), products to tackle everything from hydration to wrinkles

You see, pimples are not something that anyone wants to have on their face and there could be some things that you could be doing that make the problem even worse. Below, I am going to give you 13 things to not do with your pimple. If you find that you are doing some of these things, then obviously, you will need to change those habits.

Use make-up that is greasy or oily
You need to avoid using oily, greasy makeup. Why? Because it is a known fact that it will clog those pores. Bad makeup is responsible for the development of acne, so the next time you are looking for new makeup, be sure to choose some that will not clog those pores! This is definitely one of those things to not do with your pimple.

Neglect the skin
You should wash your face once in the morning and once during the evening. If you have oily face, then you have to wash your face at least two times a day.

Using too much make up
Using excessive make up will only make that face worse. I am sure you will look good even if you do not have all of that make up on your face.

Touching your face too much
No matter how smooth your skin is or how much you like touching your face, you shouldn’t do it. Your hands are not clean. They are known for carrying a lot of bacteria around as you touch different objects. I do not think touching your face with that dirty hand is a good move.

Eating oily foods
Amongst every list of things to not do with your pimple, you will always see this one. Oily foods are something you should avoid. This is because oily food could cause your body to produce more natural body oil or sebum. Instead, I believe a good move would be replacing that oily food with fruits and vegetables.

Squeezing
No matter what your beliefs are, squeezing that pimple will not chase it off. In fact, it will only irritate your skin even more as it sends the bacteria deeper into your skin.

Overdoing the medication and products
Many believe that more is better, but this is not necessarily true. There are cases where overdoing medication and products could make your skin even worse.

Wearing tight clothes and hats
Those tight clothes and hats will prevent your skin from breathing. This can contribute to dirt, oil and bacteria buildup.

Sleeping on your face
You may want to avoid this as it is the same as tight clothing. Sleeping on your back is just as comfortable.

Washing your face with strong chemicals
This is definitely something that you should not do. Many believe that the stronger the medication, the faster it will clear up the acne, but this is not true. You should use mild soap when you are washing your face.

Neglecting your health
This is one of those things you should not do. You should pay attention to your general state of health. You should employ a healthy, balanced diet.

Getting too stressed
When you are stressed, it can cause your acne to get worse. I recommend you trying yoga or something to relieve that stress.

Not doing anything about it
If you have acne, then you should obviously do something about it. There are many natural treatments or products that you can use. I recommend the natural treatments as they are not harsh on your skin.

There you have 13 things to not do with your pimple. I know that you and that pimple are not best friends and I also know that you want to get rid of them right away. That is why I decided to write this blog, because I see so many out there doing more harm than they are doing good. Do you have anything else that you should not do with your pimple?
